Affordable Residential Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Installations, DCC-10
Leave the costly service upgrades and consider a DCC Energy Management System (EMS). The DCC-10, manufactured by Thermolec, is an EV-EMS specifically designed to allow the connection of a charger to a panel that is at full capacity without affecting the load calculation. Enable EV charging installations everywhere by informing your customers about the DCC.
WHY?
Panel upgrades are expensive for homeowners and limit EV charging installations. For condo owners, it’s impossible to access the panel of the unit and the power available is limited.
WHAT?
The DCC is an electrical component that makes electric vehicle charging affordable and feasible for both the condo and the homeowner.
HOW?
The DCC allows the connection of any EV charger to a fully load panel by managing the energy available in real time. DCC’s will only allow power to be delivered to the EV charger if the total demand of the panel is below full capacity.
How it works:
DCC allows the connection of any EV charger to a fully loaded panel by managing the energy available at any given time, whether in a home or in a condo.
DCC does a real-time reading of the total power consumption of a home or condo electrical panel;
It detects when the total power consumption of the main circuit breaker exceeds 80% and temporarily de-energizes the charger.
When DCC detects that the total power consumption of the electrical panel is less than 80% for more than 15 minutes it automatically re-energizes the charger.
DCC will only allow power to be delivered to the EV charger if the total demand of the panel is below its full capacity.
Electric Code:
DCC is compliant with National Electric Code (NEC) 70-619 Article 750.
Certifications: UL Listed and CSA (CAN/USA C22.2 14-13 UL 508, 17th Ed.)
Local inspectors may not always be familiar with this Energy Management System. It is recommend to share DCC specifications with inspectors, prior to purchase, for familiarization and approval..

About DCC:
DCC is an electrical component specifically designed to allow the addition of an EV charging unit to an existing panel at a full load – but it is not an EV charger.
DCC-9 permits charger installations in condo’s/apartments where the electrical panel is physically far from the parking spot.
DCC-10 simplifies charger installation in a home where the panel is at a full capacity.
